Extension tour to Kizhi

Day 1

In the evening you will be transferred tothe Ladozhsky train station to depart by the 18:00 express Lastochka train for Petrozavodsk. You will arrive in Petrozavodsk, the capital of the Republic of Karelia, at 22:55 and walk across the square to the Park Inn by Radisson Petrozavodsk hotel for check in and overnight.

Day 2

After breakfast you will depart for the city tour during which you will see main streets and squares, the monument to Peter the Great, St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and walk along the embankment of Onega Lake to look at the collection of contemporary sculptures. Then you will depart for Kizhi Island by hydrofoil across Onega Lake, the second largest lake in Europe (1 hour and 15 minutes). Upon arrival in Kizhi Island, you will have a walking tour of Kizhi Museum, one of the largest open air museums in Russia. This unique historical, cultural and natural complex is inscribed on the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage list. The collection includes 83 monuments of wooden architecture: old chapels and houses, windmills and granaries, threshing barns and racks for drying crops, with the 22-domed Church of the Transfiguration of Our Savior being the gem of the collection. You will return to Petrozavodsk by hydrofoil to take the 18:00 express Lastochka train for St.Petersburg and arrive in St.Petersburg at 22:55. Transfer to the hotel.
