Tour of Moscow and St. Petersburg

TOUR OF MOSCOW AND ST.PETERSBURG will allow you to explore and marvel at the most popular sights of the two capitals of Russia. In Moscow, the political and financial capital of modern Russia, you will see the Kremlin, Red Square, Armory Museum, the Trinity Monastery of St.Sergius in Sergiev Posad. In St.Petersburg, the cultural capital of Russia, you will visit the Hermitage and the Winter Palace, St.Isaac’s Cathedral and the Church on the Spilled Blood, Catherine’s Palace and the Amber Room, Peterhof fountains.

DAY 1 – MOSCOW

Upon arrival in Moscow, you will be transferred to the hotel.

DAY 2 – MOSCOW

In the morning you will have a guided sightseeing tour of Moscow during which you will see Tverskaya Street, the main street of the city, panoramic views of the Kremlin and the Moskva River and observation platform on Sparrow Hills in front of Moscow State University. After an independent lunch in the GUM department store you will have a walking tour of Red Square where you will see St.Basil’s Cathedral and Lenin’s Mausoleum, followed by a visit to Christ the Savior’s Cathedral, the main cathedral of the Russian Orthodox Church.

DAY 3 – MOSCOW

This morning you will be taken for a guided visit to the Kremlin. You will see the Tsar Bell and Tsar Cannon and visit one of the Kremlin cathedrals. Then you will have a guided tour of the Armory, housing the stunning treasures of the Russian tsars among which are crowns and thrones, regalia and diplomatic gifts, carriages and sleds, richly decorated garments and vestments, and Faberge jewellery. You will have the rest of the day at leisure to explore the city on your own.

DAY 4 – MOSCOW

This whole day you will spend in the town of Sergiev Posad, where you will visit the Trinity Monastery of St.Sergius, one of Russia’s most important religious and historical landmarks and a place of spiritual pilgrimage. Its stunning churches, grouped around the spectacular Cathedral of the Assumption, are among the most beautiful in Russia. In the evening you will depart for St.Petersburg by an overnight train.

DAY 5 – ST PETERSBURG

Upon arrival in St.Petersburg you will have the guided sightseeing tour during which you will see such highlights as Nevsky Prospect, the main street of the city, the Square of Fine Arts, Palace Square, Peter and Paul Fortress and the panoramic views of the Neva River. You will visit the splendid St.Isaac’s Cathedral, the fourth largest domed cathedral in the world, and the Church on the Spilled Blood with the amazing 7,000 m2 of glass mosaics, more than anywhere else in the world. At the end of the tour you will be taken to your hotel.

DAY 6 – ST PETERSBURG

In the morning you will have a guided tour of the Hermitage, one of the world’s largest art museums, possessing over 3 million exhibits. During the tour you will see the lavishly-decorated reception quarters of the Winter Palace, the highlights of the Old Masters’ Collection (Leonardo da Vinci, Rafael, Rembrandt) and Impressionists’ and Post-Impressionists’ collection. You will have this afternoon at leisure to explore the city on your own.

DAY 7 – ST PETERSBURG

Tsarskoe Selo

After breakfast you will drive to Tsarskoe Selo where you will have a guided visit of Catherine’s Palace, the largest summer palace of the Russian Royal family, famous for the splendor of its Baroque interiors, including the Gold Rooms and the unique Amber Room, the 8th wonder of the world. After an independent lunch in the area, you will have an excursion to Peterhof, the Russian Versailles, located on the coast of the Gulf of Finland, where you will tour the Lower Park, the elaborate grounds featuring over 150 fountains, including the breathtaking Great Cascade.
As the fountains work May through September, in the period of October through April the afternoon tour will take you to the charming Paul’s Palace in the town of Pavlovsk, an elegant Neoclassical palace of the Russian Royal family.

DAY 8 – ST PETERSBURG

This day you will say good-bye to St.Petersburg and will be transferred to the airport.
