JANUARY 27 – END OF THE SIEGE OF LENINGRAD
On January 27, 2020 St.Petersburg celebrates 76 years since the Siege of Leningrad in WWII was completely lifted and the city was liberated after 900 days of the siege, during which the city was completely cut off from the rest of the country by the Nazi troops. Not only did the city survive, but victoriously crushed the enemy.
ECHO OF EXPRESSIONISM
“Echo of Expressionism” – the exhibition which reconstructs the history of Leningrad Expressionism of 1900-1920s opens today in the Marble Palace of the Russian Art Museum.
‘TIS POTEMKIN HIMSELF!
The exhibition in the Hermitage is devoted to the 280th anniversary of Prince Potemkin’s birth. Prince Grigory Potemkin of Taurida, a significant statesman of the 18th century, remained the most energetic associate of Catherine II for almost 20 years, playing a leading role in the Empress’s geopolitics. The exhibition will run until March 29, 2020.
HENRI MATISSE: JAZZ
On December 30, 2019, the exhibition “Jazz”, marking the 150th anniversary of Henri Matisse’s birth, opened in the General Staff building of the State Hermitage Museum. The exhibition is devoted to the most famous and the most unusual book of the artist. Matisse started working on it in 1943–1944, and 270 copies were published in 1947. The exhibition will run until March 1, 2020., 2020.
AN ALLIANCE OF THE ARTS. ON THE 275TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE IMPERIAL PORCELAIN MANUFACTORY
On 25 December 2019, an exhibition devoted to the 275th Anniversary of the Imperial Porcelain Factory, the oldest one in Russia, opened in in the Armorial and Picket Halls of the Winter Palace in the Hermitage. It will work till April 4, 2020. The exhibition presents pieces of 18-20th cc., including items from the Hermitage, Russian Museum, Pavlovsk, Peterhof, Tsarskoye Selo and Kuskovo, as well as contemporary porcelain of the factory.
ХХ INTERNATIONALl WINTER “ARTS SQUARE” FESTIVAL
ХХ International Winter “Arts Square” Festival will be held in St. Petersburg December 14 – 24, this year. The audience will meet a lot of world famous performers arts, including Yuri Temirkanov, Charles Dutoit, Yuri Bashmet, the “Moscow Soloists” Chamber Orchestra, vocal ensemble “Take 6”, pianists Leif Ove Andsnes, Elisso Virsaladze, Boris Berezovsky, violinists Joshua Bell, Sergej Krylov and others.
MADONNA IN FLOWERS
Madonna in Flowers exhibition opened in the Arts Square Gallery on December 12 and it will work till February 23, 2020. The gallery presents unique works by Flemish artists of the 17th century, including works by Rubens, Bruegel and van Cleve, all coming from private collections.

DEINEKA/SAMOKHVALOV EXHIBITION IN ST. PETERSBURG
Deineka / Samokhvalov Exhibition opens in St. Petersburg Manege on November 18.
It is devoted to the work of two outstanding Soviet-era painters – Alexander Deineka and Alexander Samokhvalov and features 300 exhibits from 37 museums and 9 private collections.
